The cable stayed bridge of Naranjito was opened on Friday, October 24th, 2008 by former Gov. Anibal Acevedo Vila. This work was built at a cost of $31 million. It is located between the municipalities of Naranjito and Toa Alta, on Lake La Plata and this work will facilitate the transition between the central area of the Island and the Metropolitan Area, since it reduces to approximately 15 minutes access between Naranjito and Bayamón. This bridge is located in the PR-5, which is currently divided into two main sections: from Cataño to Bayamón (ending near the area of Santa Juanita) and Bayamón (Buena Vista neighborhood) to Naranjito.
